Anessa is the dedicated sun care brand of Shiseido, launched in Japan in 1992. Shiseido says the brand draws on more than 100 years of its UV research, and the brand says its name comes from the Japanese word "nessa", meaning hot sand.
Shiseido describes Anessa as a Japanese suncare expert brand sold in 13 Asian countries and regions, and says the Perfect UV Skincare Milk is its leading product. The brand says its formulas are designed so the UV protective film holds up with sweat, water and heat.
Anessa does not appear to have an official Australian presence. Australians mostly buy the Japanese versions through specialist Asian beauty shops and importers.
