Kose is a Tokyo beauty company that sells skincare under several brand names, from Sekkisei to drugstore lines like Softymo and Suncut. As at 5 October 2026 it has no official Australian channel we could find and we did not find it at major Australian beauty chains, but Australian J-beauty specialists stock it.
Kosé was founded in Tokyo in 1946 by Kozaburo Kobayashi and was known as Kobayashi Kosé until it took its current name in 1991. It is still led by the Kobayashi family and is based in Nihonbashi, Tokyo.
Rather than selling under one name, Kose runs a portfolio of brands at different prices: prestige lines such as Decorté and Sekkisei, and drugstore lines from its Kose Cosmeport arm such as Softymo cleansing oils, Suncut sunscreens and Clear Turn sheet masks. It expanded into Western markets when it bought US brand Tarte in 2014.
Kose says its mission is that cosmetics help people develop confidence and courage, supported by scientific research.
