Sulwhasoo is Amorepacific's luxury South Korean skincare brand, known for ginseng-based products such as the First Care Activating Serum. It launched in Australia through Sephora in 2020, but as at October 2026 we could only confirm stock at specialist Australian shops.
Sulwhasoo is the luxury skincare brand of Amorepacific, launched under that name in 1997. The brand says its roots go back to 1966, when ABC Ginseng Cream was released, followed in 1973 by Ginseng SAMMI, which it calls the first cosmetic made using ginseng saponin, and the Sulwha brand in 1987. The brand credits founder Suh Sung-whan, inspired by his childhood in Kaesong and his mother's care with ingredients, with basing it on Korean herbal medicine.
The name comes from "Seolhwa", a plum blossom that blooms in the snow. Ginseng remains the brand's signature ingredient, and the brand says its research led to the JAUM Balancing Complex used in the First Care Activating Serum and the Concentrated Ginseng cream line.
